An open genset refers to a generator that has an open frame design. It has an engine, which can either be diesel, gas or gasoline, and an alternator that are placed in an open design. Open gensets tend to be much cheaper when compared to enclosed gensets. Their use is ideal when noise and environmental concerns are not primary objectives like in industrial or construction sites.
